WELCOME TO
ZEN SQUIRREL PILATES STUDIO

A small pilates-inspired studio offering wellness and community through individual and group classes

WELCOME

Zen Squirrel Studio is a pilates-inspired wellness studio emphasizing small group connection and mindful movement.  Anatomy and physiology are incorporated into each session and group class to encourage awareness of how our body moves and operates.  Although inspired by pilates, we also integrate the physical principles of yoga along with fascial release techniques to optimize and restore mobility and strength.

DUO SESSIONS

$35 per client for 60-minute session

Duo Sessions are more affordable AND offer an opportunity to connect with a friend or partner while still receiving individualized instruction.  Participants must be of similar fitness skill and working towards the same goals.  These duo sessions are not suited for those looking to address an individual ailment.

GROUP CLASSES

Class fee is $10 per class

Group classes require no prior registration and are open to all.  Class space is cozy so does max at about 10 participants. Class format is the same for each class and modifications and adaptations are made based on participating clients.  Exercises are generally done on a mat so ability to get down to a mat and lie on your back is necessary for participation.  Each class begins with 15-minutes of restorative work before we transition to pilates-inspired movement.  Each class is intended for all levels.

FAQ

WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise emphasizing core stability as a way to optimize mobility and strength.  Although generally misunderstood as being strictly abdominals, the core also includes the back, gluteals, pelvic floor, ribcage, diaphragm, and shoulder blades.  Exercises are often done on a mat using props to offer assistance or increase the exercise challenge.  Pilates is also known for its use of larger equipment such as the reformer and stability chair to vary the exercise repertoire.

WHAT IS MYOFASCIAL RELEASE?

Myofascial release is a technique utilized to help restore mobility within our fascia (connective tissue).  This fascia exists as a thin but influential layer of tissue covering all of our muscles and organs.  Myofascia refers specifically to the connective tissue that surrounds the muscular and skeletal system. It is common for this connective tissue to become restricted, inhibiting our mobility. Instruction in self myofasical release techniques helps clients to independently manage areas where the fascia may be restricted in their own bodies.

WHAT IF I'VE NEVER DONE PILATES BEFORE?

Each class is intended for both newbies and veteran attendees to feel comfortable, confident, and challenged. All levels of experience are welcome to any class.

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?

Nope!  We have mats and all the props you need.  Just bring yourself!

WHAT DO I WEAR?

Wear clothing that allows for free movement and comfort. Attendees generally find comfort with leggings or joggers, t-shirt, tanks, or long-sleeve shirts.  Shoes are removed, so no need for any specific footwear.

HOW BIG ARE THE CLASSES?

The class space is pretty small and cozy so classes max at about 10 participants.
